Are you someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems and being the driving force behind positive change in a manufacturing environment? At British Gypsum, we are looking for a Planning & Inventory Manager to join our Logistics team at Sherburn. This role plays a crucial role in managing and developing a newly formed planning team, ensuring decisions are made at the right level and the business is fully supported. This is a genuine opportunity to build a team around the role and embed cross-training. You will act as the engine of evolution for planning and inventory management on site - driving change, improving resilience and strengthening relationships across production, warehousing, logistics partners and central teams.

This role is permanent, full-time working 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday, based at the Sherburn plant.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven management experience, with the ability to lead, support and develop teams effectively.
  • Strong planning, supply chain or logistics experience, ideally within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Confident decision-making ability, including remaining effective under pressure and in time-critical situations.
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, with a strong curiosity to challenge the status quo and embrace new ideas.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a strong customer focus.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading and developing the Production Planning & Inventory team, ensuring everyone is cross-trained and the function is resilient and well supported.
  • Owning production planning and inventory decisions, making sure issues are resolved at the right level and in a timely way.
  • Building strong working relationships across production, warehousing, logistics partners and other British Gypsum / Saint-Gobain sites.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant performance, efficiency and ways of working.
  • Acting as a visible leader on site, promoting a strong safety-first culture and full adherence to site rules and standards.
  • Providing accurate planning data and reporting to support logistics and operational decision-making.

Saint-Gobain is the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction, improving daily life through high-performance solutions. We understand that a diverse workplace is not only a more enjoyable place to be but also facilitates better decision making and innovation. So, whoever you are, and whichever Saint-Gobain business you join, you can be sure of a warm welcome with us.

The world of work is changing. At Saint-Gobain, we’re always open to new ways of working. Everyone has different needs and commitments. We’ll happily discuss any need you might have for this role: flexible hours, job-sharing, part-time working, or anything else that matters to you. We can’t promise to meet every request when we’re recruiting - but we do promise to listen.

If you match our criteria, we will be in touch to discuss your experience and more about you as a person. We look forward to hearing from you.
