At British Gypsum we are looking for a Mine Operative to work in our small, focussed, multi-disciplinary production team. The Mine Operative will be a part of a safety focused, highly skilled team in one of our 4 production crews based out of Marblaegis Mine, East Leake, Leicestershire. The Mine Operative will be in a team of 3 working with a wider team of 7 and will be tasked with undertaking duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy and Managers Rules. British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled, and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we\’re very proud of. This role will operate a Monday – Friday, 3-shift staggered pattern, which includes days, afternoons, and nights, plus one weekend per month. For this role we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience. Adaptability and common sense; this is a highly hazardous environment, so proactivity towards health and safety is a must have. Experience operating heavy plant machinery/construction machinery, or anything industrial would be beneficial. Experience in a production environment, following strict safety rules and regulations, as well as detailed instructions. Openness to working underground on a shift pattern including nights, afternoons, and days. Willingness to learn and develop.What you will be doing: Our Mine Operatives are important to our success. In this role you will. Be fully committed to high safety standards. Be an integral member of the mine production team & operate front line production machinery (full training will be given on each piece of equipment). The machinery includes mechanised cutting / loading machines, rock transportation machinery (shuttle cars) and loaders (Scoop / LHD). Follow directions of the Team Leader / Mine Shift Manager to ensure extraction width and height is in accordance with mine design. Undertake ancillary duties where necessary, including installation of mine conveyors, towing of equipment & production move up work.Are British Gypsum and Saint-Gobain inclusive employers?
