Are you an apprentice trained Mechanical Fitter (Mechanical Engineer) who is passionate about problem solving and maintenance? At Saint-Gobain we are looking for a Mechanical Plant Fitter to work in our Engineering Team at our East Leake manufacturing plant in Leicestershire. You'll be responsible for the mechanical engineering activities on site, both planned and reactive, in order to keep production running so we can deliver to our customers on time, every time!

This Mechanical Fitter will be a part of our Mechanical Engineering Team. You'll be working on heavy machinery and will possess the initiative to solve problems, perform repairs, and collaborate with production as well as the wider engineering team. This is a days-based role working Monday - Friday. Please note we are a 24/7 plant and would therefore require some flexibility out of hours in case of business needs. What we're looking for:

  • A mechanical engineer with experience in a production or manufacturing setting
  • Minimum NVQ Level III qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent communication and problem solving as well as collaboration with other teams
  • An apprentice trained mechanical engineer
  • H&S focus - safety is paramount for our business
  • Proficiency using CMMS systems and Microsoft packages plus ability to pick up other software when needed

What you will be doing:

  • Reactive and planned engineering works on equipment including but not limited to grinding mills, blow pots, forming and conveying belts, screw conveyors etc
  • Use root cause analysis to solve problems and communicate relevant data to prevent reoccurrence regarding maintenance problems
  • Autonomous maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise with contractors and shift electrician, working collaboratively on projects
  • Use the CMMS system (INFOR EAM) to plan your work, complete job reports, and order spares. We also use Microsoft packages in our day-to-day roles so a proficiency with IT is essential
