At British Gypsum, we're looking for a Logistics Manager on a 12-month fixed-term basis at our East Leake Works. This is an important leadership role with broad responsibility across logistics, warehousing, planning and performance. We recognise that candidates may bring different strengths and levels of experience, so we're open to hearing from people who have strong relevant experience, leadership capability and the potential to grow into some aspects of the role with the right support.

You'll lead the site logistics and warehousing operation, working with an experienced team and key partners to ensure safe, effective and customer focused delivery. You'll also manage our third-party logistics partner, work closely with the Saint-Gobain Distribution team, and bring clear insight into performance. As part of the senior leadership team, you'll contribute to how the site operates and help shape improvements across the function.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in supply chain, logistics or warehousing, ideally within a fast-paced operational or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of leading teams and creating a positive, high-performing culture
  • A good understanding of health and safety responsibilities; IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent would be beneficial
  • Experience of using SAP or similar systems
  • Exposure to WCM, Lean or similar continuous improvement approaches
  • Strong analytical skills, including confidence working with data and performance reporting

If you feel you could bring value to this role but don't meet every single requirement, we'd still welcome an application. We're particularly interested in people with the right leadership approach, operational mindset and willingness to learn.

What you will be doing:

This is a broad and varied role. You will be supported in delivering across strategy, EHS, continuous improvement and performance management. Responsibilities are likely to include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading site production planning and capacity management activity
  • Using continuous improvement approaches such as WCM and Cost Deployment to identify and reduce losses across warehousing and loading operations
  • Promoting strong EHS standards across the logistics area
  • Supporting the continued development of a logistics culture that considers sustainability in day-to-day activity
  • Identifying operational inefficiencies and helping to put practical improvements in place
  • Building a positive, can-do mindset across the team and wider operation

This role offers the opportunity to step into a significant leadership position while working with support from the wider site and business. If you have a strong operational foundation and the credibility to lead people well, we'd encourage you to apply.

Are British Gypsum and Saint-Gobain inclusive employers? Saint-Gobain is a worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction, following our purpose of 'Making the World a Better Home'. We play a part in improving daily life through high-performance solutions. From wherever you are, let your unique personality and our values guide you every day to invent a more sustainable world. We understand that a diverse workplace is not only a more enjoyable place to be, but also facilitates better decision making and innovation. So, whoever you are, and whichever Saint-Gobain business you join, you can be sure of a warm welcome with us.

And what about flexibility? At Saint-Gobain, we're always open to new ways of working. Everyone has different needs and commitments. We'll happily discuss any need you might have for this role. Whilst we can't promise to meet every request when we're recruiting, we do promise to listen.

If you match our criteria, we will be in touch to discuss your experience and more about you as a person, we look forward to hearing from you.
