British Gypsum (East Leake Works) is looking for a Maintenance Engineer (Line Engineer) to join the team at the plant, with the purpose of managing the engineering team within the Board Plant 3 (BP3) workshop. This is a critical plant role and is a good step into a management career. It's a busy and varied role with lots of priorities including managing contractors on site, responsibility for the planned maintenance schedule, managing CAPEX project budgets, working collaboratively with stakeholders and SLT, all whilst acting as a H&S ambassador and improving our HSE standards, policies and team culture. It is also critical that you are data driven whereby you use this to drive activity, and in addition, have good leadership skills to manage, direct, and motivate your team.

This is a Mon-Fri role working 39 hours. You'd need to be present at our morning meetings but start and finish times can be flexible taking this into account. The role is a mix of desk based and shop floor - no two days are the same!

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in an engineering role, preferably in Gypsum or a comparable industry
  • Experience in managing and developing teams or the ability to do so
  • Demonstrated experience in using a CMMS system to develop improved maintenance strategy
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong, positive safety record demonstrated in both operations and project environments
  • Planning, organising, communication and IT skills
  • A role model for the Saint-Gobain principles of conduct and action

What you will be doing:

  • Act as part of a performance team to deliver world class levels of safety through risk reduction, compliance, and other associated safety pillar activities.
  • Act as the Reliability Pillar lead for their workshop, developing and delivering the required maintenance strategy, whilst being in control of their maintenance budget.
  • Use your clear understanding of KPI's /losses to produce action plans to deliver improvements.
  • Deliver product quality and assurance working as part of the performance team.
  • Development of long-range Capex Plan and Delivery of CapEx projects within your workshop.
  • Support the development of CMMS in your workshop and the development of other digital solutions where beneficial to improve plant reliability.
  • Training and development craft engineers and operators, assist with reviews, appraisals etc.
  • Manage contractors including issuing permits to work.
