Archie Watson Racing is seeking a motivated Assistant Head Person to join the professional and friendly team at our yard in Upper Lambourn. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role within the team, assisting the Head Groom and Assistant Trainer in the day‑to‑day running of the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Groom and Assistant Trainer with the smooth running of the yard
- Oversee the yard at weekends on a rota basis
- Daily check and monitor horses
- Feed and provide general horse care
- Assist vets, providing routine medical care and treatments
- Ride (if requested, not essential)
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a racing yard
- Confident and capable
- Strong horsemanship and attention to detail
- Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility
- Good team player with a positive attitude
Working Pattern & Benefits
- Working 1 in 2 weekends with an afternoon off each week
