Overview
The Metering Regulatory Performance Analyst role sits within the Metering & Industry Performance team as part of the newly formed Business Excellence function within British Gas Business Energy, whose focus is to drive highly efficient and effective operational performance.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the business has a clear understanding of its performance against metering regulatory objectives, managing the development & delivery of key performance reporting, developing insight and controls to manage risk and identify opportunities to optimise performance.
Key accountabilities
- Maintain key reporting and performance insight for external regulatory bodies to evidence the progress made in regards to industry metering objectives and our regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate with metering & operations teams to establish performance routines, monitor key performance metrics, set performance targets and monitor progress
- Build strong working relationships with the key internal and 3rd Party stakeholders to successfully develop and deliver performance insight
- Analyse metering performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, risks & opportunities and provide recommendations for areas for improvement and to optimise
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operational performance and change initiatives
- Assist in forecasting performance and setting realistic but stretching goals.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, appreciating what best in class performance looks like both internally and within other organisations/industries
What we are looking for
- We are looking for someone who is customer-focused, with a strong understanding of metering operational processes and experience delivering results within complex organisational and regulatory environments.
- You should have experience of the UK energy market, covering both Electricity and Gas, and have a good understanding of the regulatory framework.
- You should be a collaborative team player, able to build strong cross-functional relationships and manage diverse stakeholder groups effectively. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential, with extensive experience of using analytical tools like SQL, Excel, and Power BI to manage large datasets, assess performance, identify risks, and spot opportunities for improvement.
- Clear and confident communication is key, including the ability to present detailed data insights to senior management to support decision-making and present performance updates
