This team will be pivotal in managing our data as a strategic asset across the organisation, supporting our growth ambitions, and driving innovation in Data & AI products. The Job: British Gas Business is looking for a dedicated Data Governance Analyst to support the implementation and maintenance of Data Governance (DG) policies and practices. This role plays an important part in our business. You'll need to be methodical, proactive, and keen to keep things moving forward. You will manage the data lifecycle, ensuring data is treated as a valuable asset to unlock its full potential. You'll work alongside our Fair Usage AI Policy, ensuring compliance with our operating model and supporting ethical, responsible data practices. This is a hands-on role, working closely with and supporting our Governance Manager to embed governance principles across the organisation.
Key aspects of this role are:
- Policy Implementation: Assist in the implementation and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Data Stewardship: Promote data stewardship and best practices within BGB.
- Utilise Technology: Leverage technology to support policy implementation and compliance monitoring.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve data governance issues and discrepancies.
- Documentation: Maintain and update documentation of data governance processes and standards.
- Collaboration: Work with business stakeholders and distributed BU Data Stewards to support data governance initiatives.
- Training and Awareness: Assist in developing and delivering training programs to enhance data governance awareness and skills.
Here's what we're looking for:
- Experience in Data Governance or a related field.
- Comprehensive understanding of Data Governance frameworks and best practices.
- Proficiency with Data Governance tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to Data Governance (e.g., GDPR).
- Experience working within data communities and technical environments.
- Proven ability to drive adoption of Data Governance/management frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data quality principles.
- Aware of regulatory compliance and data stewardship best practices.
- Basic experience in Data Mapping and Data Management.
