Job Description
We're so much more than an energy company. We're a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn't rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That's why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently – we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.
We've been powering the UK's homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We're making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we're making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.
About your role:
We're looking for people that are ready to dive headfirst into the world of Gas Engineering. Age? Gender? Background? Just numbers and stories that make you, you. We're here for your drive, your passion, and that fire in your eyes.
At our award-winning academies, you'll gain the knowledge, hands-on skills, and recognised qualifications to become a first-class Gas Engineer – the go-to expert who keeps homes warm and safe.
From day one, you'll learn alongside experienced engineers, mastering everything from servicing and maintaining to repairing and upgrading central heating systems. You'll be at the heart of delivering energy-efficient solutions that make a real difference to families every day.
This isn't just another job – it's a practical, hands-on role where you'll build skills for life. Yes, it's challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding. You'll play a vital part in ensuring homes stay warm and comfortable, and kettles keep boiling.
Here's what we're looking for:
- 4 GCSEs (or Scottish Nat 5's) at grade C/4 or above, ideally including Maths and English, or equivalent qualification.
- A CV that shows your passion for learning a trade, a technical or mechanical mindset, and a commitment to delivering great customer service.
- A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Availability to attend training at our UK-wide academies, with provided accommodation and travel if needed.
Here's what's in it for you.
- A starting salary of £18,564 which will continue to rise as you hit specific milestones during your apprenticeship.
- Once you have completed the full programme and aftercare support your salary will increase to £45,483 with bonus and add ons on top.
- We also offer London Weighting Allowance ranging from £4,160 to £6,240 (dependant on location) for living or starting your day within London.
- An expensed electric van for you to use for work, including an EV charge point where applicable & charge card.
