Hours: Full Time (39 Hours Per Week Including Weekends)

We are currently looking for a Plant Area Manager to join our large Garden Centre Group. Previous experience as a Plant Manager within the industry is preferred; however, applicants with a proven plant management background and knowledge of plants will be considered. Working in the plant area is a high volume environment with a fast turnaround. The successful candidate should be physically fit as this is a very hands-on role. A good knowledge of plants is essential to the role, as is good customer service and a high standard of visual merchandising. The successful candidate will preferably possess either a horticultural qualification, will be in training, or have practical horticultural experience. A forklift truck licence is an advantage.

Duties include:

  • Managing section people resources
  • Forward planning of work schedule
  • Daily resource management to support effective customer service requirements
  • Deployment of the team to deliver excellent plant standards
  • Responsible for leading a team
  • Operational Audit for compliance in those areas
  • Key holder responsibilities to assist with opening and closing of the centres
  • Holiday cover
  • Ensuring department compliance and health and safety regulations are carried out
  • Positive and strong communicator and a skilled motivational people manager
  • Accountable for providing great customer service and have a keen eye for quality and detail
  • Ordering / Plant standards

Required Criteria:

  • Plant knowledge
  • Retail experience and management/development of people is essential
  • Driving license preferred as some travel will be expected
  • A current Forklift license & PA1/PA6 pesticides license is desirable but not essential
