We are looking for a First Line IT Support Analyst to join our large Garden Centre Group, based at our Northern Head Office in Brigg. Reporting to the IT Manager, the successful candidate will provide day-to-day first line IT support across the business, helping users with hardware, software, printer, EPOS, network and Office 365 related issues. This role would suit someone with at least one year’s experience in a first line IT support environment who is keen to develop their technical knowledge and gain wider exposure to business IT systems. The ideal candidate will be flexible, proactive and customer-focused, with a positive approach to problem solving and a willingness to support colleagues across multiple sites.
Duties include:
- Provide first line IT support to users across the business, responding to support requests by phone, remotely and in person where required.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer and peripheral issues, escalating more complex problems where necessary.
- Set up, configure and maintain PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and other IT equipment for head office and garden centre users.
- Support the setup and maintenance of EPOS equipment, including tills, card terminals, scanners and handheld terminals.
- Carry out basic system administration tasks, including user account setup, password resets, permissions changes and routine housekeeping.
- Assist with the support and maintenance of the business network, helping to troubleshoot connectivity, Wi-Fi and basic infrastructure issues.
- Record, update and manage support tickets accurately, ensuring users are kept informed of progress and resolutions.
- Work with the wider IT team to support rollouts, upgrades, site projects and general improvements to IT services.
- Provide paid weekend support cover on a rota basis once full training has been completed.
Knowledge/experience required:
- A minimum of one year’s experience in a first line IT support, helpdesk or desktop support role.
- Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications and Office 365 administration.
- Experience setting up, configuring and troubleshooting PCs, laptops, printers, scanners and other common IT equipment.
- Basic understanding of networking, including Wi-Fi, IP addressing, connectivity issues and network hardware.
- Confident troubleshooting general IT issues, identifying root causes and providing clear, practical solutions to users.
- Experience supporting EPOS systems, tills, card terminals or handheld devices would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and the importance of accurate call logging, prioritisation and user communication.
