Job Purpose

The British Fluid Power Association (BFPA) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Training Technical Manager to deliver our industry-leading training courses.

This pivotal role ensures BFPA continues to set the highest standards in flexible hose safety and competence, while also meeting growing industry demand. The position supports the Association’s long-term training strategy by reducing reliance on external consultants, strengthening in-house capacity for future growth, and offering flexibility to deliver additional BFPA training courses as required (with full training provided). Training will be delivered both across the UK and overseas when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver BFPA-accredited hose training courses, including Working Safely with Hose and Connectors, Hose Assembly Skills, Hose Integrity, Inspection & Management, Small Bore Tubing Integrity, Hydrostatic Proof Pressure Testing.
  • Be flexible to deliver additional BFPA training programmes as required, with full training provided.
  • Deliver training at customer sites across the UK, internationally overseas, and virtually via online platforms.
  • Ensure all training is carried out in line with BFPA standards, guidelines, and industry best practice.
  • Maintain accurate training records and provide timely reporting to BFPA HQ.
  • Support the development of new training materials and continuous improvement of existing courses.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight to the training team, ensuring consistency and high standards across all programmes.
  • Represent BFPA at industry events, meetings, and technical forums where appropriate.
  • Support the BFPA Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme with external visits when necessary.
  • Travel extensively across the UK and overseas, with overnight stays as required.
  • Significant hands-on experience in hose assembly, hose integrity, or fluid power systems within an industrial setting.
  • Recognised technical qualification in fluid power, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven ability to deliver technical training, mentoring, or competency assessments.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage delegates at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively (UK and overseas).
  • Experience delivering structured training courses in a technical subject.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and certification requirements.
  • Previous experience working with trade associations, training providers, or professional bodies.
