The hours of work are 37 per week, on a double dayshift system. This vacancy falls under our \’refer a friend\’ scheme. Responsibilities

  • Perform non-destructive testing on products by Ultrasonic, Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle methods
  • Inspect items to drawing using manual measuring equipment including micrometers, Vernier calipers, surtronics, slip gauges, etc.
  • Competent use of a Micro-Hite
  • Paint inspection to assure thickness and adhesion
  • Visual inspection of complete components
  • Final inspection and sign-off of components and assemblies prior to despatch
  • Provide general quality support to operational teams as required
  • Carry out receiving, in-process and/or final inspection and testing activities
  • Authorize release of product for despatch in accordance with OP16.2
  • Identify non-conforming items via the NCR system and maintain inspection status
  • Record quality data as planned
  • Ensure component traceability/identification is present and correct
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and maintained to a high standard
  • Ensure quality system procedures are adhered to and operate effectively
  • Apply 5S principles to QC department and sustain standards for audit requirements
  • Work in a safe manner and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy

Qualifications

  • Time-served in a mechanical engineering discipline with ideally a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and quality plans
  • Skilled in the use of inspection and test equipment and capable of being trained to use all equipment
  • Understanding of non-destructive testing techniques (ultrasonic, dye penetrant and magnetic particle) with the ability to be trained to Level 2
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills; motivated and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • IT literate with understanding of Microsoft Office applications
