As a Deburrer, you will carry out in-process and final de-burr, inspection, and assembly activities on manufactured components to meet customer quality & delivery requirements.
What Youll Be Doing
- De-burr and dress machined components using a variety of powered and non-powered tools in preparation for final inspection.
- Ensure component cleanliness.
- Be available and flexible to travel to other sites within the British Engines Group.
- Check components for adherence to drawings using a variety of inspection equipment including micrometers, vernier calipers etc.
- To assist in identifying and using the most effective and efficient method of checking components.
- Recording of quality data where planned by the company.
- To ensure component traceability/identification is present and correct.
- Ensure documentation is accurate and maintained to a high standard.
- Material handling as required to load, unload and manoeuvre materials and finished components.
- To operate in-house computer systems for recording of work activities.
- To support training of apprentices and trainees.
- To ensure quality system procedures are being adhered to and are operating effectively.
- Ensure 5S principles are applied to QC department standards and sustained to audit requirements.
- To promote positivity and a teamwork culture within the department and beyond.
- To have a flexible approach to work activities.
- To ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the companys Health, Safety & Environmental Policy.
- Keen to embrace training and development in line with business needs.
- To carry out any other responsibilities not listed above as may reasonably be expected.
Who Were Looking For
To apply, we ask that you have an apprenticeship certificate in a recognised mechanical engineering discipline, as well as experience of working in a machine shop or a similar engineering environment for a minimum of 5 years. Previous experience of assembly fitting on engineering precision equipment is preferred.
We are looking for someone who can read and interpret engineering drawings, quality plans and specifications, with the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently, work independently and be part of a team and problem solve. You will have a good understanding of the company\’s products and must be able to communicate clearly, make logical and rapid decisions and be computer literate.
You will be working as part of a team so you will need to have the ability to contribute to the wider team, developing a network of productive relationships throughout the business.

Employment is subject to a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. This is a fixed term role for a period of up to six months, working day shift hours of 37 per week initially, then moving on to shifts.
