We are looking for a commercially minded Technical Sales Engineer to drive business growth and deliver tailored pressure testing solutions to our customers. This is a dynamic role that blends technical expertise with customer engagement. You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing the full sales lifecycle, and building strong, lasting relationships with clients across sectors including oil & gas, subsea, renewables and industrial markets. As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in strengthening our reputation for quality, safety and reliability while contributing to continued business success.
What you’ll be doing:
- Identify, develop and convert new sales opportunities for pressure testing services
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from initial enquiry through to quotation, negotiation and order placement
- Review customer specifications, drawings and technical requirements to develop competitive, compliant proposals
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure technical feasibility, accurate costing and delivery planning
- Prepare detailed quotations, including scope, pricing and delivery schedules
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing technical and commercial support throughout the process
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and high satisfaction
- Maintain accurate records of bids, sales activity, pipeline and forecasts using CRM systems
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new growth opportunities
- Support contract reviews and ensure alignment with company capabilities and risk management processes
From a technical perspective you will also:
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and testing standards (e.g. hydrostatic and gas testing)
- Provide guidance to customers on appropriate testing solutions
- Ensure all proposals meet industry standards, quality requirements and safety regulations
- Collaborate with internal specialists to develop bespoke solutions where required
Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone who combines technical understanding with commercial awareness and a proactive approach to customer engagement. You’ll be confident managing multiple opportunities at once, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and organisation. You will ideally have experience in a technical sales or applications engineering role within an engineering or industrial environment. A background in pressure testing or high‑pressure systems would be advantageous, but not essential if you can demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
Strong communication skills are key in this role. You’ll be comfortable engaging with customers, understanding their requirements and translating technical information into practical, value‑driven solutions. You should also be confident working cross‑functionally, collaborating with engineering and operations teams to deliver the best outcomes.
We’re also looking for someone who demonstrates commercial awareness, with experience in pricing, negotiation and managing customer expectations. The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications will be important, along with good IT skills and experience using CRM systems. Most importantly, you’ll align with the British Engines values—working collaboratively, striving for continuous improvement, taking pride in your work and always doing the right thing. A full UK driving licence is essential. Flexible approach to travel, including visits to customer sites.
