Senior QHSE Engineer in Cramlington

Cramlington Full-Time On-site
B

British Engines Group company, CMP Products, is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of cable glands, cable cleats and cable accessories.

CMP manufactures its products from three facilities based in Cramlington, Northumberland, and has a global distribution network, supported by ten offices spread across six continents from Houston, USA, to Busan, South Korea.

CMP Products is looking for 2 Senior QHSE Engineers to provide independent governance, assurance and technical leadership across Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) systems.

You’ll help ensure our management systems are effective, proportionate to risk and aligned with regulatory requirements. Working with colleagues across QHSE, engineering, manufacturing and operations, you’ll provide clear insight into risk and help strengthen a proactive, prevention-focused culture. Operational leaders retain responsibility for day-to-day QHSE performance; your role is to safeguard the governance framework, provide constructive challenge and escape material risks.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as custodian of the Integrated Management System, maintaining alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Keep QHSE policies, procedures and standards clear, proportionate and risk-based, and support management reviews and audit readiness.
  • Oversee quality assurance across products and processes, including NPI validation, change management, non-conformance and corrective action.
  • Review quality trends and systemic risks, escalating material product or compliance concerns.
  • Assure the effectiveness of risk assessments, critical controls, legal compliance processes, environmental controls and permit management.
  • Review serious incidents and high-potential events, supporting robust investigation and organisational learning.
  • Develop and monitor QHSE performance indicators, analyse trends and provide independent assurance reporting to senior leadership.
  • Mentor QHSE colleagues, strengthen technical capability and promote frontline accountability and prevention-focused behaviours.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with an HNC in Engineering, Quality or Manufacturing, alongside an ISO Internal Auditor qualification and a NEBOSH qualification. You’ll have at least five years’ relevant QHSE or Quality Engineering experience, including work in high-volume manufacturing and CNC processes, and experience supporting NPI activities. You’ll bring strong knowledge of product and process QHSE auditing, PPAP, FAI, MSA and NPI, as well as proven root-cause analysis and systemic improvement skills, including NCR and 8D problem-solving.

You’ll also have a strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, confident IT skills, including experience with ERP systems such as IFS, and the integrity, risk-based judgement and confidence to influence, collaborate and offer credible technical challenge. A BEng or higher qualification in a relevant discipline would be an advantage, as would experience supporting multi-site international operations or regulated manufacturing, and familiarity with CMM equipment, NPI programme management, metrology, inspection or CNC machining.
