Based around Microsoft technologies including Azure, the team plays a key role in driving innovation, operational resilience and digital transformation across the organisation.
What will you be doing?
As a Cloud Operations Engineer for British Engineering Services Group, you will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and reliability of our cloud platforms, primarily Microsoft Azure and associated services.
You will play a key role in maintaining platform stability, security, and resilience while supporting the ongoing development of our cloud infrastructure.
- Support the operation of Microsoft Azure and core cloud services.
- Monitor cloud environments and respond to platform alerts.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving cloud incidents and service issues.
- Apply system patches, updates, and routine maintenance activities.
- Support backup, recovery, and resilience processes.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Work collaboratively with IT teams to resolve cross-platform issues.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code (ARM and Bicep).
- Maintain and improve reusable deployment templates, modules, and configuration standards.
- Support Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault integration, and related platform services.
- Assist with validation and testing of infrastructure changes prior to production deployment.
- Support Azure Dev Ops build and release pipelines for cloud platform services.
- Assist with troubleshooting deployment pipeline failures and release issues.
- Support implementation of security controls and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Ensure systems meet patching, compliance, and security standards

- A starting salary between £40,000 - £50,000, negotiable depending on experience
- A flexible working approach, the role will be based in our Manchester city centre office, with some home based working available (you must have suitable Wi-Fi, and provide your own office set-up for time spent working from home)

To join our team, you will need
- Experience in IT support, infrastructure, or cloud environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure services.
- Understanding of Windows Server and networking fundamentals.
- Awareness of IT security principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with monitoring, patching, and maintenance processes.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles, including ARM, Bicep, or Terraform.
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops pipelines and source control practices.
- Familiarity with Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, and Key Vault.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
