Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + commission

Your opportunity

As part of our next phase of growth, British Cycling is focusing its commercial operations on accelerating investment and innovation. This will unlock the full potential of our assets from world-class events like the Lloyds Tour of Britain to new urban formats, including BMX Freestyle, and pioneering social impact initiatives that tackle inequalities nationwide. And, in 2027, British Cycling will deliver one of the biggest sporting events on the planet when the UK hosts the Grand Départ of both the Tour De France and the Tour De France Femme, Avec Zwift. We’re now seeking a Business Development Manager to identify and secure new commercial partnerships.

What you’ll be doing

  • Identify, approach and secure high-value partnerships across key sectors, generating revenue to achieve British Cycling’s commercial targets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline, achieving agreed KPIs in relation to client meetings, proposals and pipeline management, ensuring a data‑led, strategic approach to partnership sales.
  • Work collaboratively to create compelling propositions, proposals and presentations tailored to specific brand objectives.
  • Support negotiation and contracting with prospective and existing partners.
  • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with brands, agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reporting and forecasts to the Head of Business Development and wider senior team in relation to commercial performance.
  • Maintain and develop an understanding of the wider sporting and sponsorship landscape.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including a close relationship with Marketing and Product Development.
  • Represent British Cycling at key industry events, elevating our presence and influence.
  • Support the Head of Business Development to shape British Cycling’s commercial strategy and identify emerging opportunities for growth.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in sponsorship or commercial sales within sport, entertainment, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and partnerships.
  • Strong relationship‑building and negotiation skills.
  • Experience developing creative solutions including best‑in‑class proposals and materials.
  • Commercial creativity – an ability to spot opportunities others might miss.
  • Understanding of the evolving global sports and entertainment landscape.
  • Ability to take innovation from other sports / brands and adapt it to the British Cycling proposition.
  • Independent, driven, and comfortable working at pace with ambition and accountability.
  • Interpersonal and networking skills, comfortable dealing at senior level.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with a strong ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience working with a CRM system, maintaining a database of contacts to inform a data‑led sales approach.
  • Consistent attention to detail, with strong organisational and time‑management skills and an ability to deliver against tight deadlines.
