Role Title: Marketing Lead, Tour de France Grand Départ 2027
Salary: Up to £45K, dependent upon experience
Contract length: Fixed term to the end of September 2027.
In 2027 the UK will host the Grand Départ of both the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femme, Avec Zwift. This will be the first time in history that both races have departed from the same country, outside of France. A landmark social impact programme will also be delivered across the UK, tackling inactivity, improving mental wellbeing, boosting economic growth and supporting communities to thrive.
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Grand Départ GB 2027 will maintain oversight of the delivery of the events and will manage public funding on behalf of DCMS, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and UK Sport.
The SPV is a Joint Venture between UKEL (a new sports events company) and British Cycling.
British Cycling will deliver the operational and business function, social impact and volunteer programmes along with all consumer facing functions, on behalf of partners.
Role overview
We are now recruiting for a Marketing Lead, Tour de France Grand Départ 2027.
This fixed-term position will be the first dedicated marketing role for the Grand Départ 2027 and will play a pivotal role in shaping the marketing output driving awareness of the event and leading the powerful storytelling of the social impact it will deliver across the UK.
You will be a well-rounded marketing generalist with proven experience delivering activity across multiple channels, including content planning and creation, social media management, basic SEO, and email marketing.
Strong relationship management skills are essential, as you will work closely with host local authorities and many other partners to support local area marketing and community engagement initiatives.
As part of the Brand and Engagement Directorate, you’ll sit alongside British Cycling’s marketing and communication teams and work closely with our Tour de France Grand Départ Communications Lead.
What will you be doing?
- Developing andexecuting the marketing plan to amplify and drive awarenessof TDF/TDFF2027 across all owned and paid channels.
- Delivering community engagement marketing activity togrow audiences in communities, especially in line with the Social Impact Programme.​
- Engaging closely with the Social Impact delivery team to understand programmes and activities, identifying and delivering engaging storytelling opportunities.
- Liaising with all key stakeholder partners (organisingparties and local authorities) to deliver coordinated outputs.
- Developing and managing TDF/TDFF2027 owned digital channels, including web, email and social to deliver best in class fan and community engagement.
- Delivering on commercial objectives – this could include merchandise, hospitality sales and sponsor contractual requirements.
- Leading a small high-performing team, and managing external agencies and freelancers.
- Working closely with internal colleagues across the full suite of communications, content and marketing specialisms.
About you
- You will have many years’ experience in marketing and/or content marketing roles, with evidence of successfully driving mass awareness, achieving positive sentiment, harnessing content and activations to tell compelling stories, and driving people to take action.
