Role: Communications and PR Officer (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)
Salary: £26,089 per annum
Location: Manchester, UK. Hybrid working model with a minimum of 2 days per week in the Manchester office.

About the Role:
The role holder will deliver high quality communications and media support for British Cycling’s major events and strategic campaigns, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive positive coverage and audience engagement. It involves managing media operations and accreditation, producing compelling written content across multiple channels, and fostering strong relationships with journalists and partners. The role also provides occasional support for the Great Britain Cycling Team, as well as wider commercial communications.
About You:
You will thrive as part of a passionate in-house team, building positive relationships with colleagues, and external stakeholders and agencies to deliver brilliant work. You will have experience of producing high-quality PR activity across a range of media. Ideally you will have previous experience working in a PR or communications role. You will have experience in planning and delivering communications plans and campaigns, being adaptive and driven to produce high impact results/outcomes. While an understanding of cycling is preferable, it is essential that you have a passion for highlighting the life changing impact of riding bikes and the wider benefits to health, society and communities.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Deliver communications support on the creative coverage of major events such as the Lloyds Tour of Britain races, UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Glasgow round and more, encompassing PR, media and communications activities in the build-up, during and post events.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative communications campaigns to support the organisation’s strategy, working closely with colleagues to land positive media coverage and engagement across digital channels to build affinity with our brand.
- Write high-quality news releases, quotes, website and newsletter copy, ensuring that style and tone of voice is consistent across all British Cycling platforms.
- Proactively work with colleagues across the organisation to plan and shape communications related to our major events vision, and provide occasional communications support relating to commercial partnerships and the Great Britain Cycling Team.
