About Grand Depart GB 2027 Ltd
In 2027 the UK will host the Grand Depart of both the Tour De France and the Tour De France Femmes, Avec Zwift. This will be the first time in history that both races have departed from the same country, outside of France. A landmark social impact programme will also be delivered across the UK, tackling inactivity, improving mental wellbeing, boosting economic growth and supporting communities to thrive.
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – Grand Depart GB 2027 – will maintain oversight of the delivery of the events and will manage public funding on behalf of DCMS, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and UK Sport. The SPV is a Joint Venture between UKEL (a new sports events company) and British Cycling. British Cycling will deliver the operational and business function, social impact and volunteer programmes along with all consumer facing functions, on behalf of partners.
We are now recruiting for a Project Lead to project manage all elements of the London event, including the main delivery partner, ensuring:

What will you be doing?
- Lead the delivery of the Grand Depart’s project plans for the Tour de France Femmes 2027 in London, ensuring successful delivery of all obligations under the Hosting agreement.
- Oversee and manage the appointed delivery partner for the London stage, ensuring that all deliverables and timelines are met at the required standard.
- Manage the project budget for the Tour de France Femmes in London, including oversight of UK Government, UK Sport and GLA funding and adherence to governance requirements.
- Support the coordination and alignment of procurement activity, including the Grand Depart GB central procurement programme and key suppliers.
- Act as the main interface between the host city stakeholders, London boroughs, funding partners, the Grand Depart GB team, and delivery agencies/contractors to coordinate communications and oversee delivery to the highest possible standards.
- Ensure collaboration between all operational delivery teams.
- Provide assurance that the delivery agencies/contractors are delivering their obligations within the scoped budgets, including the preparation of reports on key delivery issues, progress and risks.
- Establish and lead a meeting framework including all delivery partners, Grand Depart GB representatives and host city stakeholders.
- Ensure that the delivery partner secures all necessary permissions and licences and develops robust operational plans to enable the delivery of a safe and secure event in London.
- Ensure that the delivery partner works with local stakeholders to drive awareness of and engagement with the event to ensure business and resident awareness.
- Ensure the delivery partner provides an exceptional experience for spectators, teams and officials including safe and effective crowd and traffic management.
- Work with the delivery partner and city stakeholders to develop activities targeted at both local populations and visitors, including promotional activities and fan engagement/experience, e.g. Spectator Hubs.
- Oversee delivery of a Host wayfinding/dressing programme to generate awareness and establish a strong event presence.
- Ensure collaboration across the volunteer operations programme with event delivery partners and the Grand Depart GB central volunteer programme.
- Support the organisation and delivery of any Grand Depart related activities or events taking place in London, e.g., welcome meetings, media opportunities.
- Prepare briefings on matters relating to the events as required, including briefings for the Mayor of London and senior stakeholders when necessary.
- Other duties as required to meet organisational or team objectives.
What we’re looking for:
- Significant experience of managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with first-hand experience of contract negotiation, programme and risk management, and strategic communications.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of planning, resourcing, and delivering major sports events and/or city activations (international closed road events and/or cycling events desirable).
- Experience of working with local authorities, emergency services, and public agencies (London preferable).
- Proven skill in senior stakeholder management and relationship building – both internal and external.
- Confident communicator and able to lead meetings and larger groups.
- Planning and delivering high profile sporting events.
- Creative mindset with the ability to share ideas and influence decision-makers.
