Role Purpose
We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead teaching operations across four centres, ensuring efficient resource utilisation, cost control, and high-quality service delivery. The role drives operational excellence through standardised processes, data-led decision-making, and continuous improvement aligned with financial targets and regional strategy.


Key Accountabilities
Operational Planning & Delivery
• Implement standardised operational procedures and systems to achieve measurable targets (revenue, volume, cost, efficiency)
• Translate regional strategies into effective operational plans
• Lead end-to-end operational planning, including logistics, resourcing, and service delivery performance
• Plan and prioritise country-level operational activities to deliver business objectives
Capacity & Resource Management
• Oversee capacity management to optimise teacher utilisation and classroom usage
• Partner with Commercial Managers to forecast demand and align resources
• Coordinate internal and external teaching space in line with demand
• Monitor and report on teacher utilisation using agreed regional frameworks
Teaching Centre Operations
• Manage day-to-day centre logistics, including timetabling, cover, and duty rotas
• Maintain and communicate the academic calendar using agreed templates
• Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of teaching services
Academic Administration & Compliance
• Oversee academic processes (attendance, records, reporting, certification) in line with standards
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements
• Monitor adherence to risk management procedures, including safeguarding, security, and financial controls, escalating issues where needed
Financial & Data Management
• Ensure accuracy of student registration and financial data
• Oversee debtors, refunds, financial records, and hourly-paid pay claims
• Maintain compliance with audit and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Management & Improvement
• Build strong relationships across internal teams and stakeholders (including corporate functions)
• Use data and insights to drive continuous improvement in operational performance
• Provide analysis and recommendations to support decision-making and regional reporting
Team Leadership
• Lead and manage the performance of the operations team
• Motivate, coach, and develop staff to deliver high-quality services
• Address performance, attendance, and conduct matters effectively
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement


Role specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Minimum/essential
• Experience of operations management with exposure to streamlining operations.
• Experience of cost management.
• Experience of successful delivery of business process improvement.
Desirable
• Experience of working as part of a dispersed team
• Experience of implementing change.
• Experience of operations within teaching delivery

Requirements:
• Education: University degree or equivalent in any subject
• Languages: The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required
• Right to work: As we cannot sponsor work passes, applicants must already have the right to live and work in Taiwan.
• Work Shift: This is an on-site role with rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends. The position offers two consecutive days off per week, which will fall on weekdays (not Saturday or Sunday). Flexibility and adaptability to a shift-based environment are essential.
• Work location: 100% onsite work rotating in 4 teaching centres - Xinyi, Shipai, Songshan in Taipei and Linkou in New Taipei
