We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented professional to support the compliant and efficient delivery of teaching operations at the British Council in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a six-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave and plays a critical part in enabling high-quality teaching activity by providing operational and administrative support that helps achieve business and impact targets while contributing to sustainable growth.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring that all teaching operations align with risk and regulatory requirements, with particular attention to processes relating to foreign staff employment. This includes supporting teacher recruitment, onboarding and exit processes, as well as managing visa and work permit applications, extensions and renewals for expatriate staff. You will be expected to identify and escalate any instances of non-compliance and ensure all activities meet both internal standards and external legal requirements.

In this role, you will deliver a wide range of administrative services in line with corporate procedures, ensuring quality, efficiency and continuity. You will maintain accurate and compliant records, including teacher data and personnel files, and will be responsible for drafting routine and occasionally more complex documentation and reports. You will also contribute to continuous improvement by analysing data and reviewing processes to identify opportunities for greater efficiency.

You will provide essential logistical support within the teaching centre, helping to coordinate both internal and external activities to ensure they run smoothly and effectively. This will involve working closely with teachers, colleagues and external partners, coordinating tasks within established procedures, and monitoring progress to meet agreed quality and time standards.

The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload in a dynamic environment. You will need to respond flexibly to changing demands while maintaining a high standard of service delivery. Success in this position will depend on your ability to collaborate with others, ensure operational excellence, and contribute to a supportive and compliant working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential
    • Bachelor’s degree in administrative management, Human Resources, or a related field
    • Approximately two years of full-time experience in a relevant role, with proven experience handling administrative duties for expatriate staff in a multicultural working environment
    • Experience working with local authorities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Spoken and written English at CEFR B2 level or higher
    • Soft skills: details oriented, stamina, experience in working with confidential information.
  • Desirable
    • Experience working with expatriate staff and local authorities
    • Experience handling administrative duties within the education sector
    • Legal knowledge and compliance (working closely with local authorities)
    • Relevant language certifications

Important Information

  • Location: the position is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  • Contract Hours: 37.5h per week
  • Contract Type: this is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract, full time position.
  • Salary: 15,359,155.38 – 28,524,096.92 per month, depending on qualifications and experience
  • Benefits: 21 days annual leave days, pro-rated, plus 15 days of public holidays (combination of Vietnam and UK public holidays), British Council provides Personal Accident Insurance and Health Insurance for 24 hour/day for staff members.
  • Right to Work: The candidates must have legal right to live and work in Vietnam.
  • Background Screening: all successful candidates are obliged to undergo comprehensive background screening and Police Check
