Work Schedule: This is a 24/7 on-site role with rotating shifts, including night shifts. The position offers two days off per week, which may not always fall on weekends. Flexibility and adaptability to a continuous shift-based environment are essential. There is no hybrid work arrangement for this position and it requires working onsite five days a week.
Role Purpose
The British Council is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Teaching Operations Coordinator to join our team in India. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of our English teaching operations by providing high-quality operational, administrative, and coordination support across teacher resourcing, payroll, reporting, scheduling, and stakeholder management.
Main accountabilities:
- Work closely with Teaching Operations Managers, academic teams, finance colleagues, external vendors, and teachers to ensure teaching services are delivered efficiently and in line with organisational standards.
- Coordinate weekly payroll claims for English Online (EO) teachers, working with vendors to ensure invoices are processed and paid on time.
- Monitor operational activities to ensure they are completed within agreed quality and service standards.
- Support the onboarding of new teachers by coordinating compliance requirements, setting up teacher accounts, and managing access to operational systems such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other business platforms.
- Liaise with Finance to raise purchase orders, process invoices, and support timely payments.
- Work with Teaching Operations Managers to ensure teacher availability is scheduled effectively to meet client and business requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational data and reporting, preparing regular reports on teacher hours, maintaining teacher databases and operational records, and undertaking basic data analysis to identify trends and support continuous process improvement.
- Ensure data accuracy, compliance with organisational requirements, and the timely completion of reporting activities.
- Support the day-to-day delivery of teaching operations by coordinating closed-group courses and global teaching timetables.
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams and ensure that operational activities run smoothly.
- Respond to queries from internal teams, recognise and escalate incidents such as complaints or technical issues that could impact teaching delivery.
- Support the implementation of new systems and business processes as they are introduced.
The successful candidate will have experience in an operational or administrative role and be highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work to tight deadlines. Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. You should be an experienced user of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, SharePoint, Teams, and Word, and be confident working with multiple digital systems. A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidential information and operational records are critical to success in this role.

Condition of Employment:
Language: Strong English proficiency is crucial for this role, requiring fluency in both written and spoken communication to effectively navigate British Council systems and international operations. Please note: Interviews will be conducted primarily in English. The successful candidate must be able to speak and write well in English, as this is essential for the role.
Locally recruited: Applications are welcomed from candidates currently in this location with a natural right to work. Relocation support is not provided. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders will need to have, or be able to obtain, a valid special work permit issued from Government of India (GOI) to work in the British High Commission (BHC). BHC will not be able to sponsor work visas or obtain/assist with the special work permit from GOI. Offers of employment made to OCI card holders will be conditional upon candidates obtaining a special work permit.
