Key Accountabilities
You will play a vital role in delivering the British Council’s global English strategy by ensuring teaching consistently meets learner needs and expectations, both online and face-to-face. You will uphold the highest standards of English Language Teaching (ELT), contributing to the organisation’s reputation as a global leader in the field. A commitment to continuous professional development is essential, along with actively sharing best practices with colleagues and aligning your teaching with British Council Global Teaching Standards.
You will also contribute to the wider success of the teaching centre by supporting its activities and broader organisational plans. In all aspects of your work, you will embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), ensuring inclusive lesson planning and positive engagement with learners and colleagues.
Additionally, you will strictly adhere to British Council policies and standards, maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding, EDI, and health and safety. This includes promoting a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all learners and staff.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience, in an internationally recognised English language teaching institute.
- Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
- Early Years aged 2 to 5 (100+hours)
- Primary aged 6 to 10 (100+ hours)
- Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (100+ hours)
- Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (100+ hours) (or willingness to acquire experience under supervision as soon as possible)
- Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours
- High proficiency in English i.e. CEFR level of C2/ IELTS Band 8+ in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
- Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL (global minimum standard)
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
Desirable
- Specialist courses like IELTS and Business English
