Position: Online English Teacher
Location: Remote (based in either UK, Australia, Canada, India, USA β selected states only)
Contract Type: Zero hours, hourly paid temporary contract of up to 12 months (with the possibility of extension depending on business need). Teaching hours available Monday-Friday 18:30-20:30, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Role Purpose: British Council\βs recruitment partner, Guidant Global are looking for passionate and dedicated Online English Teachers to join their team. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality online teaching and contributing to the improvement of the student experience. This role involves teaching English Online students and supporting the English Online team. **If successful, for the duration of this assignment you will be managed by Guidant Global, not British Council.**
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging online classes to students of various nationalities and levels, including CEFR C1
- Provide proactive feedback to ensure a supportive and effective learning experience
- Design and develop classroom presentation tools for group and private classes, as well as webinars
- Carry out administrative and logistical activities to ensure efficient and high-quality teaching services
- Contribute to the development and improvement of teaching products, programmes, and curricula
- Participate in targeted training activities to keep up with product developments and trends in online teaching
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL, or recognised equivalent qualification
- Language Proficiency: Full proficiency in English (CEFR C2) is essential
- Experience: A minimum of two years post-qualification English teaching experience is required, including online instruction (400+ hours), and experience teaching adults in General English, Business English, and IELTS preparation
- Eligibility: Right to work and be physically present in one of the approved countries (UK, Australia, Canada, India, USA β selected states only).
Desirable:
- Additional online teaching qualification or specialism
- Experience in livestreaming classes/webinars, mentoring/coaching other teachers, and writing learning content for content marketing
