Role Overview

This role leads the design and delivery of a global marketing performance and reporting framework, aligned to wider organisational measures. It quantifies return on investment, drives digital performance reporting, and provides insight to inform strategic decision‐making and continuous improvement across the global network.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and deliverables over a quarterly to annual time horizon.
  • Determines work plans and coordinates input from others (who may be outside the direct management line) to meet specific objectives.
  • Provides formal line management of a team of performance experts and business scientists.
  • Leads the implementation of global marketing reporting frameworks and performance dashboards, providing a central, consistent view of marketing performance in collaboration with the Marketing Operations team.
  • Designs and embeds aligned marketing KPIs, processes, and tools across plans globally, ensuring engagement, buy‐in, and compliance with performance and reporting standards.
  • Actively participates in the Marketing Community of Practice and the network of marketing professionals.
  • Develops peer and personal networks within and outside Marketing and Communications to enhance own knowledge and expertise.
  • Proactively builds and maintains excellent relationships with partners and stakeholders to ensure integrated, joined‐up and future‐proofed approaches and solutions.
  • Develops deep insight into global marketing performance measurement contexts, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring approaches are informed, relevant, and aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Partners closely with colleagues and stakeholders to connect performance reporting to wider business needs, strategy, and organisational thinking.
  • Provides expert guidance on performance frameworks, delivers aligned global solutions, and maintains professional excellence through continuous development.
  • Delivers expert global analysis and reporting on marketing outcomes, guiding managers on effective indicators and metrics to inform marketing strategies.
  • Applies advanced analytics by combining customer and marketing data to assess effectiveness, maximise ROI, and recommend aligned performance measures in collaboration with Marketing Operations and wider teams.

Qualifications

  • Highly developed analytical and modelling skills.
  • Experience of leading performance and reporting within a large and complex organisation.
  • Deep understanding of the processes and tools that enable effective performance measurement and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and managing cascaded performance measurement and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of the markets the British Council operates in (desirable).
  • Experience in a global organisation (desirable).

Language Requirements

  • Written and verbal proficiency in English.
