Role purpose

The English Online Data Analyst supports data-driven decision-making across the English Online portfolio by providing analysis and actionable insights to improve product performance, learner experience, and commercial outcomes. Reporting to the Head of Product, the role develops and maintains reporting solutions, analyses learner and product data, evaluates feature releases, and creates dashboards that support strategic and operational decision-making. Working closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, B2O Partnerships, Operations, and the Data Evidence & Performance (DEP) team, the role helps inform pricing, product development, onboarding, engagement, retention, and growth strategies.

The role sits within the English Online, English for Work proposition, supporting a fast-paced global digital learning business serving thousands of learners worldwide. It supports a range of products including Subscription, Self-Study, IELTS Coach, and English for Work, while integrating data from multiple platforms to provide a holistic view of performance. The role contributes to improvements in data governance, reporting, and analytics capability, ensuring insights are accessible and actionable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders and enabling evidence-based decisions across global teams.

Role accountabilities

Data Analysis & Reporting
Develop and maintain SQL queries, datasets, and Power BI dashboards to provide accurate insights into product performance, learner behaviour, commercial outcomes, and operational effectiveness.

Insight Generation & Evaluation
Conduct analysis of product features, marketing performance, customer journeys, pricing initiatives, and user engagement. Support benchmarking, experimentation, and evidence-based decision-making through clear recommendations and performance evaluation.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, B2O Partnerships, Operations, and DEP teams to define reporting requirements, translate business needs into measurable metrics, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Quality & Continuous Improvement
Support data governance, quality assurance, and reporting standards while identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement, and enhanced analytics capability across English Online.

Work Experience and Qualifications

Minimum/essential

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in data analysis, BI analysis, or product analytics.
  • Strong SQL/MySQL skills, including writing and optimising queries.
  • Experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards.
  • Proven ability to translate data into clear, actionable commercial or product insights.
  • Experience developing and tracking KPIs for digital services or digital products.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams (e.g. product, marketing, sales).
  • Familiarity with customer journey analysis, digital funnel metrics, and performance benchmarking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with GA4 and other digital analytics tools.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Desirable

  • Experience in digital learning, EdTech, assessment, or subscription-based product environments.
  • Familiarity with Looker, Tableau or similar visualisation tools.
  • Experience in global or multicultural organisations.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and product development cycles.
  • Experience with A/B testing or experimentation platforms.
  • Certification or formal qualification in data analytics or BI.
  • Understanding of AI-supported analytics trends (e.g., automated insight generation, AI-driven segmentation).
  • Experience contributing to data governance or data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of CRM and marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).

Education

  • Degree, preferably in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, information systems, business, or a related discipline, e.g. a STEM subject or a finance-related subject
  • Equivalent professional experience will be considered where a degree is not held.
  • Data or analytics-related certifications, such as in data management, data governance, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) are desirable but not required.

  • Working location: UK - This role is open to candidates based in all UK locations
