The British College of Brazil (BCB) is one of the leading international schools in Sao Paulo, offering contemporary British international education to students from Pre-Nursery through to Secondary, teaching ages 2 to 17 bilingually in English and Portuguese. The Human Resources Director (HRD) will utilize solid business acumen to partner with the management team regarding recruiting and retention, employee relations, payroll and benefits, and training and development. This position reports to the Head of School and is part of the Senior Leadership Team at the school and the Regional HR Leadership Team. The HRD will be responsible for the HR functions at the school level and be an enabler of Nord Anglia culture and processes at the school, engaging with the regional HR team to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

  • Advices and supports senior leadership at school to maximize the HR capabilities and enable school performance to provide the best experience to our students.
  • Embraces and drives Nord Anglia vision and purpose and the school's mission, values and leads by example.
  • Coaches and trains managers to properly advise and follow human resource policies and procedures within the school and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal regulations and Nord Anglia guidelines and procedures.
  • Trains and coaches management in interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary and regulatory compliance.
  • Works and collaborates closely with the Senior leadership team at the school and the region, acting as a connector of the HR regional team and the SLT at the school.
  • Ensures compliance with Nord Anglia Education and School policies and federal/state governmental agencies.
  • Ensures payroll processing for the school is completed correctly and documentation and approvals are properly done.
  • Maintains accurate information in a timely fashion, with adequate and high quality data inputted in the HRIS systems, payroll systems and other systems.
  • Reviews and manages HR school budget and cost to support school efficiency.
  • Responsible for managing the school calendar and communicating it appropriately to the stakeholders.

Workforce planning, recruitment & onboarding:

  • Coordinates and leads workforce planning in collaboration with the head of school, SLT and academic leads.
  • Is responsible for ensuring high quality recruitment programs for the school and collaborating with marketing team and regional HR team to drive employer branding for the school.
  • Manages recruitment agencies and vendors, and reviews their performance and costs continuously.
  • This includes posting the positions, recruitment of core positions, completing all required documentation and background checks, filing documentation and building the onboarding program with the manager.

Employee relations and performance:

  • Drives a positive work culture.
  • Resolves employee relations efforts positively.
  • Manages and has oversight over international assignees and supports their specific needs linked to relocation and visas.
  • Drives performance management processes at the school level.
  • Advises managers on performance management challenges, reviews all verbal/written warnings, and documents them in the personnel files.

Talent review:

  • Coordinates the talent mapping and succession process at the school.
  • Provides insight and oversight on school talent to engage in leadership development and NAE leadership and training programs.

Engagement Survey:

  • Promotes high levels of participation in the schools.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Conducts compensation benchmarks within area labor market to monitor compensation and trends.
  • Conducts review of compensation plans for employees and supports process for group approval.
  • Communicates benefits, policy and other HR related information with the support of the HR regional team.
  • Ensures adequate documentation and processing of leaves.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of well-rounded HR Generalist and HR Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of local employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience producing and interpreting reports and HR data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in managing multiple priorities.
  • Holds a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
  • Must meet visa and work authorization requirements for employment in The Americas.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at the school; demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils and is willing to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
