THE ROLE
In this position you will be responsible for ensuring disciplined risk-taking, robust underwriting standards and portfolio resilience across market cycles aligned with the Bank’s mandate. This will include strategically evolving and furthering the implementation of the Financial Risk Management Framework.
With the role encompassing both credit risk and debt and equity investment risk management across the range of products delivered by BBB and its subsidiaries, you will be a key strategic adviser to the CRO, Exco and Board on the credit and investment risks in BBB portfolio, acting as a critical counterbalance to the banking and investment origination and execution activities.
Key requirements of the role will include being responsible for the ongoing strategic development of the Financial Risk Management Framework across a range of equity investment and wholesale debt products, and providing an independent challenge to the business on deal underwriting, valuation methodologies, financial modelling assumptions and downside stress scenarios. You will also be an independent challenge to the business on the appropriateness and adequacy of underlying deal underwriting processes and the standards to provide assurance to the Board on quality and adequacy of deal process and due diligence undertaken.
With a deep experience of financial risk management in relevant asset classes through economic cycles, you will be considered a thought leader on evolving risk strategy to respond to, and anticipate market needs, and be able to engage with Board members and provide relevant advice and strategic direction to a team of dedicated experts, sharing insights and ensuring ongoing development of financial risk skills in the department.
You will be a seasoned risk professional working in investment risk and/or credit risk management in a fund management organisation or a bank, with experience of evaluating complex investments, structured products and illiquid assets across multiple market cycles, and be able to demonstrate an understanding of financial analysis, debt and equity valuations, risk concepts/frameworks with a special focus on unlisted and illiquid equities, securitisations and SME debt.
You will also have a good understanding of the UK regulatory environment in which banks and fund managers operate.
