THE ROLE
At the British Business Bank, you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in embedding and evolving first line risk management across our Chief Operating Office (COO). Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide strategic direction on risk, controls and operational resilience, helping to ensure our operational, technology, data and change functions deliver against the Bank's objectives within a well-governed risk framework.
As Director of First Line Risk, you will shape the approach to risk management across COO, influencing how risk is identified, assessed, managed and reported. You will partner with senior stakeholders to strengthen risk culture, enhance operational resilience and provide meaningful insight that supports informed decision-making. You will actively assure and oversee the Bank’s material and key control environment from a design and operating effectiveness standpoint.
You will also work closely with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit colleagues, ensuring a collaborative and forward-looking approach to managing risk across the organisation. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact. You will lead the continued development of a first line risk capability that supports operational excellence while enabling the business to achieve its strategic goals.
Your work will span operational, technology, cyber, outsourcing and change risk, giving you broad exposure across the COO portfolio and the chance to influence outcomes at executive and Board level.
To succeed, you will bring significant experience in operational, technology or enterprise risk within a regulated environment. You will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, providing challenge and insight, and translating complex risk information into practical recommendations.
