Job Introduction:
We are offering one Social Media Journalist role to work in BBC News Long Form Audio, producing social media content for BBC News podcasts. In the Long Form Audio department, we make radio programmes, podcasts and digital products, including More or Less, File on 4, The Bottom Line, The Coming Storm, Marianna in Conspiracyland and I’m Not A Monster. Within the department, the BBC News Podcast team also makes podcasts, including Newscast, Americast, Ukrainecast, The Global Story and The Today Podcast.
For this role, you will be required to work across all BBC News Podcasts. You may also be asked to work on Long Form Audio Programmes. This role will require some weekend work on a rota system.
Main Responsibilities:
- Editing a social media platform - its look and feel, its editorial focus and its impact.
- Generating creative ideas, and encourage and support the development of other people’s ideas.
- Producing digital content.
- Working through editorial and legal issues.
- Developing the digital brand of the podcast or programme.
Are you the right Candidate?
- You will have experience producing social media content.
- You will have experience growing a digital audience.
- You will have experience working in a team to produce high quality creative content.
- You will have experience researching and booking relevant and engaging guests for BBC News content.
- You will have experience of working in news and current affairs.
- You will have copywriting experience.
- It is preferable that you will have experience using BBC systems such as Wolftech, Jupiter, and Open Media.
- You will be able to demonstrate insights into the social media and podcast market.
- You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the wider BBC objectives and thorough understanding of the BBC's Editorial Guidelines.
