Responsibilities

  • Maintain, align, modify and troubleshoot broadcast equipment and systems to meet production requirements
  • Collaborate with production teams to plan technical solutions and deliver programme requirements
  • Monitor and maintain technical standards across sound, vision and data signal paths; resolve faults quickly
  • Drive technical innovation by developing, testing and implementing new equipment, systems and workflows
  • Rig, configure and operate broadcast equipment including recorders, servers, cameras and monitoring facilities
  • Lead or support equipment installations, refurbishments, acceptance testing and complex fault resolution with contractors
  • Support team development through training, coaching and supervision of juniors; maintain health and safety compliance and reporting

Key requirements

  • Relevant qualifications, training, or demonstrable experience in broadcast engineering in a television studio or live production environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of broadcast systems including cameras, routers, vision and audio mixers, sound desks, communications systems, talkback infrastructure, computer systems and networks
  • Experience with diverse broadcast technologies and software platforms and ability to adapt to new systems/workflows
  • Ability to assess and maintain high technical standards, including evaluation of pictures, waveforms, audio quality and signal integrity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach and ability to build relationships with production teams
  • Proven problem-solving skills, strong judgement to prioritize and escalate when needed
