Internal Communications and Engagement (IC&E) sits at the heart of the BBC. It connects our workforce to our culture, the BBC’s public purpose and mission, and our vision and strategy. Reporting to the Head of Leadership Communications, this IC&E Lead role is a key part of a team that ensures our leadership communications and engagement are of the highest quality, supporting our leaders and managers to perform at their best. This position can be based in Birmingham, Salford, or London with regular travel to other BBC bases.
Main Responsibilities
- The IC&E Lead will be crucial in executing and delivering world-class leadership communications, managing core channels, and developing leadership editorial and publishing plans.
- Responsibilities include writing and delivering key group-wide announcements and building partnerships with stakeholders in HR such as People & Organisational Development and People Experience.
Key Duties
- Support the development of a pan-BBC leadership communications strategy aligned with our priorities, transformation, and engagement activities.
- Develop and deliver effective leadership communications to enable leaders to confidently share and reinforce the BBC’s strategy and achievements.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to deliver leadership channels and support BBC-wide campaigns.
- Assist in delivering engagement events for Senior Executives, Leaders, and Managers.
- Maintain strong networks across the organization to stay informed and reflect current affairs, avoiding duplication.
- Use insights to refine communication approaches and evaluate activity performance.
- Act as an ambassador for the BBC’s Values and Behaviours, ensuring leadership communications reflect these principles.
- Deputise for the Head of Leadership Communications as needed.

Package Details
- Band: D
- Contract: Permanent
- Location: Based in Birmingham, Salford, or London, with regular travel if outside London.
- Hybrid role: 2 days in the office, rest remote.
- Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum, plus London Weighting of £5,319 if based in London. Salary is commensurate with experience.
