Angel Islington BID is the Business Improvement District (BID) operating in the thriving and vibrant Angel Islington area. BIDs are place-based organisations that operate over a 5-year term following a ballot of businesses in the area and Angel Islington BID is now delivering its fourth term. We provide a range of services and support to over 550 businesses in the Angel such as recycling, cleaning and crime reduction. We also promote what’s on in the neighbourhood, run public and business events, and deliver marketing and campaigns that help to achieve our core missions – an inclusive economy, a great experience and a strong local identity. The BID is overseen by a board of directors and run by a small friendly team.

Job Description

  • To manage the BID operation on a day-to-day basis as directed by the CEO, including managing banking, invoicing and record keeping, staff leave and sickness, external HR contract and office administration.
  • To oversee the procurement and delivery of identified contracted services.
  • To ensure strong project, contract and budget management of all BID services.
  • To maintain strong and effective relationships with all BID stakeholders.
  • To work collaboratively with the local authority to maximise investment in and maintenance of the local area.
  • Act as a point of contact for BID levy payer requests, alongside the Marketing and Engagement Managers.
  • Management and administration of BID governance structures, boards and documents.
  • To assist the CEO in developing and delivering BID strategy.
  • Joint-lead with the CEO in the delivery of a five yearly BID ballot.

Responsibilities:

  • Working to the CEO on all aspects of BID delivery.
  • Line management of Engagement Manager, including setting performance targets, providing training, annual appraisal and ongoing monitoring.
  • Producing an annual delivery plan covering job function for inclusion in wider BID delivery plan.
  • Oversee the production of an annual budget in consultation with Treasurer and CEO and ongoing monitoring spend against budget. Production of quarterly budget update.
  • Oversee all BID services to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the BID projects according to the annual delivery plan.
  • Managing, monitoring and procuring recycling, planting, lighting, database, maintenance, and HR contracts.
  • Collection and collation of monitoring data on crime, delivery, footfall and spend to produce quarterly board data report.
  • Administration of the BID Board, AGM and the BID governance function, including Articles of Association.
  • Liaising with the Local Authority’s collections team to agree the BID Operating Agreement.
  • Overseeing BID levy collection arrangements to ensure timely collection of the BID levy.
  • Member liaison on billing issues.
  • Management of statutory filing and regulatory arrangements (Companies House, ICO, Company Members, HMRC, Insurances, Health and Safety reporting etc).
  • Oversight of staff training schedule and budget.
  • Working with businesses including face-to-face meetings, telephone calls and emails.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the projects as agreed.
