The National Account Executive is responsible for developing and managing key customer relationships within the wholesale bakery sector, driving profitable sales growth, and ensuring exceptional customer service delivery. This is a primarily office-based role, with occasional travel and customer visits required to build and maintain strong partnerships with national and regional customers across distributor and foodservice channels. The role involves proactive account management, commercial negotiation, customer site visits, and close collaboration with internal teams to deliver results and maintain service levels. Occasional travel to customer locations and industry events will support relationship development and business growth.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Build, maintain and grow relationships with key national and regional wholesale bakery customers and wholesalers.
- Provide clear and concise customer updates to internal teams and wholesale partners.
- Conduct regular supply chain calls to manage forecasts and service levels.
- Deliver agreed sales, margin and volume targets across the customer portfolio.
- Identify opportunities for new business growth, product expansion and market penetration.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts and trading agreements in line with company objectives.
- Develop a structured customer and opportunity map across the UK, highlighting key accounts.
- Work closely with the customer service team and customer supply chain contacts to ensure service levels are maintained daily.
- Assist in resolving supply issues and communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with technical support managers and NPD colleagues to ensure developments are delivered to a high standard and on time.
- Gather insight and feedback from customers, online platforms and visits.
- Monitor customer performance, competitor activity and market trends within the bakery sector.
- Manage and track projects, providing updates and key information to internal teams to ensure timely completion.
