Overview
- You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
- You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
- You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
- Overtime may be required.
- You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Your work hours will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed (Mon-Fri) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization\’s flexible working policies
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, CAT B UK valid driver\’s license is required for the position.
- May be required to travel away from normal duty station for TDY or training as directed by management, sometimes on short notice and including overnight stays, traveling by military or commercial aircraft or by any other designated means.
- May act as a project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required.
- May be required to serve on A&E selection boards or construction contract source selection boards.
- May be required to serve as a member of the contingency recovery team during exercises and during real world contingencies.
- The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing; however, positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
Responsibilities
- We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Engineering Technician\’s at the 48 Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath, United Kingdom.
Qualifications
- Specialized experience in a similar role demonstrating the Key Skills is required. Examples: electrical or mechanical systems, drafting, surveying construction estimating, architecture at the appropriate grade for the role.
- Knowledge in Asset Management Principles and Practices as it applies to Operations Management and Requirements and Optimization activities.
- Knowledge of CE work control, customer service, operations/maintenance management procedures, and functions and procedures of each type of CE work centers.
- Knowledge of AFIs, practices, and procedures pertaining to CE operations and ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations, and recommend timely and economical solutions.
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management and Sustainment Management Systems, system capabilities, economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manipulate data use macros and formulas, pivots tables and charts, perform data analysis, and build effective presentations.
- Knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control, and budget systems; work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds; automated data processing system capabilities; real property management; and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
- Knowledge of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles, and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements to identify project requirements.
