Responsibilities
- Get the Army's fleet of battlefield helicopters in the air — from re-arming the Apache gunship to programming the Wildcat flight maps.
- Take responsibility for all the equipment and supplies required.
- Deploy on exercises and operations all over the world, wherever your squadron is needed.
- Maintain clear communication between aircraft and ground forces; work in a fast-paced operations environment; support mission planning and execution.
Training and Development
- No formal qualifications needed to begin.
- Basic physical fitness assessment:
- Mid Thigh Pull 50 kg
- Medicine Ball Throw 2.7 m
- 2 km run in 12 minutes
- Groundcrew and Communication training; after training you may choose to specialise as a Groundcrew Specialist or a Communication Specialist.
- Learn about ground-to-air and ground-to-ground communication networks; use the Mission Planning System; develop IT and radio skills.
- Licences: Cat B (car) and Cat C+E (LGV).
