About the role

This role supports the provision of palliative care to children, young people and families living with a life‑limited condition. Palliative care includes the provision of respite breaks, enabling children opportunities to have fun and make memories ‘adding life to shortened years’. You will provide high quality, holistic, family‑centred and compassionate care whilst meeting the complex clinical needs of the children in our care. The hospice delivers end‑of‑life care to a small number of children, working with specialist teams providing training and advice to manage children’s symptoms effectively. You will work as part of a large team comprising of clinical staff, activities coordinators and the child and family support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be integral in supporting patient safety and driving high quality, evidence‑based care across the care team.
  • Work as a shift lead, ensuring appropriate allocation of patients, providing support to junior staff where needed.
  • Be a role model to the team, demonstrating a high level of professional behaviours, clinical skills and professional curiosity and management of risk.
  • Support the professional development of the clinical team, including teaching, providing feedback and fostering professional growth.
  • Work with the senior management team to support effective change management.
