Wolds Wildlife Park have an exciting opportunity for an experienced hoofstock keeper to join our small team! You will work 40 hours per week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays.

Job Summary –

This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone with a passion for hoofstock species. You’ll be responsible for the daily husbandry of a variety of exotic and domestic species. You will also play an important role in enclosure maintenance, record-keeping, enrichment and public education.

Responsibilities –

  • Provide excellent husbandry standards and welfare to the hoofstock section within the park.
  • Ensure all animals receive appropriate daily care, nutrition and enrichment.
  • Monitoring health and behaviours, administering medications under veterinary guidance.
  • Collect and record detailed and accurate animal records.
  • Engage with visitors on site, which will include delivering or assisting with animal talks and public experiences.

Key Attributes –

Technical & Professional Requirements

  • 1 year experience working with hoofstock species in a zoo or similar environment (Exotic species – Desirable).
  • Relevant animal management qualifications or DMZAA
  • Knowledge of ZIMS
  • High standards of practical skills in animal husbandry, including training and enrichment.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records of animal care and welfare.

  • Hard working and highly motivated.
  • Full driving license
