BIAZA’s Communications Working Group (CWG) is looking for new members to join this strategic group that assesses and responds to the sector’s communication needs and oversees task forces such as the social media task force.
Responsibilities
- Embed and share good communications practices across BIAZA and the association’s membership.
- Assess risks and opportunities for the BIAZA membership and set out work to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate against risks.
- Support and encourage BIAZA and its members in their communications, providing guidance and practical assistance where necessary.
- Method / Approach
- Providing a hub and a focal point for communications expertise and development between individuals and organisations in the zoo and academic communities.
- The working group will provide a strategic function and regularly meet to assess ongoing risks, opportunities and challenges in the sector.
- Will found task forces (sub-groups) and workplans that create guidance, opportunities and resources for use within the BIAZA membership.
- Will provide expert guidance to the BIAZA executive office to ensure effective communications.
- Will support BIAZA, its relevant committees/working groups, to run workshops, discussion panels, webinars and other such events where appropriate.
- Commitment
Members of the communications working group are expected to attend and contribute to quarterly meetings – 3 online and 1 in person, help organise the annual Communications and Marketing conference, and provide support for BIAZA and its members on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications & Expectations
This is a voluntary role requiring applicants to have institutional support from their BIAZA zoo or aquarium.
The CWG is particularly keen to hear from smaller organisations and aquariums.
