This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a small team with primary responsibility for the management and welfare of our domestic and exotic animals and to play an active role in our educational programs. The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about wildlife and will have the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our young visitors. The role also involves grounds management and general upkeep.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the daily management, care, and welfare of all animals within the park.
- Preparing and delivering approved diets to a variety of species.
- Delivering medication when necessary, as directed by the vet and senior staff.
- Maintaining animal enclosures and exhibits.
- Implementing our behavioral enrichment and training programs.
- Observing the daily behavior, health, and security of all animals.
- Assisting where appropriate with the movement of animals within the park as directed by senior staff.
- Confidently carrying out educational tours, talks and presentations.
- Contributing to education, media and marketing initiatives to encourage public understanding and promote Clonfert's conservation mission.
- Communicating effectively with a range of age groups, members of the public, and colleagues.
