British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Corporate Finance Manager - BATIF in London. BATIF and BATOF are the key treasury vehicles for the British American Tobacco p.l.c. Group (the “BAT Group”). The role holder is responsible for preparation of the BATIF group and BATOF financial statements and management accounts, as well as forecasting and budgeting of the BAT Group’s Net finance cost (“NFC”). In addition, the role holder is responsible for the preparation of the BAT Group’s treasury related notes for the Annual Report and Accounts.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of statutory financial accounts for BATIF Group and BATOF
- Review and approval of journals for BATIF/BATOF and ensuring timely close of BATIF/BATOF’s general ledger for monthly/quarterly reporting cycle, including review and maintenance of hedge documentation for swaps and review of effectiveness reports and net investment hedges, ensuring relevant SOX controls are operational and effective
- Reporting the BAT Group’s net finance cost, borrowings, cash, derivatives and investments held at fair value
- Forecasting of the BAT Group’s Net Finance Cost at current and constant rates (circa £1.8 billion) and tracking the actuals against forecast. Having regular catch ups with central treasury and CP&A regarding forecasted NFC and approval BATIF/BATOF’s BATCASH forecast
- Work closely with the Corporate Finance Controller responsible for cash management within CP&A on the BAT Group’s Net Debt targets and actual reporting (circa £40 billion)
- Provision of accurate financial instrument accounting advice to BAT Group companies and maintenance of GMAPP as necessary
- Provision of accounting support to the Global Treasury team during EMTN, SEC bond issuances and program updates including representation letters
- Support in defining functional requirements for BAT Group systems related projects eg Nexus Genesis / Pulse and performing user acceptance testing where necessary
- Involvement in ad-hoc projects which are driven by Group treasury team or Group Statutory Reporting team, including the drafting of technical accounting papers
- Assist U.S. Treasury company (BATCAP) with hedge accounting in respect of swaps and forecasting of NFC and provide accounting support to Group treasury and Group Tax
What are we looking for?
- Degree educated with professional qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/MBA)
- Experience of accounting/auditing for financial instruments, particularly as governed by IAS 32, IFRS9, IFRS7 and IAS 21 (and UK GAAP equivalents)
- Understanding of treasury risks and the management of those risks through financial instruments.
- Ability to simplify complex situations and synthesize, communicate and present complex information
- Detailed schedules are kept in Excel: ability to maintain, change and improve them.
- Knowledge of BPC reporting tool (stat and mgmt.)
- Understanding of SAP, in particular the Treasury module is desirable
- Previous experience in using Bloomberg software is desirable
