A welcoming and relatively informal family seeks an experienced and professional ROTA nanny to care for a 2-year-old boy and, later, a 6-month-old girl. The usual schedule will be one week on/off, but please be open to varying rotational arrangements when the family travel. The family would love to find a candidate interested in a long-term position and who can work collaboratively with involved parents and an established rotational nanny.
The family enjoys a relaxed, outdoors-focused lifestyle and places great value on encouraging the children to explore, play and learn through real-world experiences. They are currently screen-free, with a preference for creative play, time outdoors, and hands-on activities. The right candidate will take a proactive and meaningful role in shaping the children’s early years, fostering curiosity, independence, empathy and excellent behaviour as they grow. The role will involve a mix of shared care and sole charge, with responsibilities including:
- Adapting confidently to each child’s evolving needs as they grow
- Coordinating nursery transition and organising extracurricular activities
- Supporting a low-screen, active lifestyle
- Preparing healthy, nutritious meals for the children
- Planning and organising age-appropriate, stimulating activities
- All the usual nursery duties and maintaining organisation of children’s spaces
- Mix of shared care and sole charge care during rota periods (including overnight)
- Supporting emotional, cognitive, and developmental milestones
- Encouraging healthy sleep and feeding routines, adjusting when necessary
- Supporting weaning when appropriate, and eventual potty training
This position is very much about finding a wonderful, warm and experienced nanny who can slot into the current household dynamic and be a brilliant team-player. The environment is calm, respectful and nurturing, and the parents would love to find someone who will become a trusted and integral part of their home.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with early years children in private households
- Strong understanding of child development from 6m+
- Organised, proactive, and able to take initiative
- Driver preferred (not essential)
- Comfortable with pets (dog and cat)
- Native or fluent English speaker
- Prior experience with toddlers and infants of a similar age
- 10+ years of previous nanny experience, some of which (at least 2 years) must be as a live-in rota Nanny
- A collaborative nature – ready to work alongside co-nanny and parents to adapt to their children’s evolving needs
- Health-conscious and aligned with a low-to-x/organic lifestyle
- Positive and engaging, with creativity and energy for sensory play, songs, stories, and age-appropriate activities
- Patient, flexible and adaptable
- Confident in nursery duties and baby care best practices
- Willing to travel occasionally with the family
- Active and energetic, very hands-on and a pitch-in approach to the role
