The ideal start date would be 15th-17th June, so things could move quickly for the right candidate!

Responsibilities

  • Support two bright and kind children: a 7-year-old girl who is independent and loves books, and a curious, easygoing 4-year-old boy.
  • Support the health, well-being, and happiness of the two children.
  • Some proxy parenting (including managing the lives and schedules of the children), as the parents have demanding careers that may involve some travel, last minute plans and occasional entertaining.
  • Help with the morning and evening routines.
  • General nursery duties including keeping the children's areas clean, tidy and organised.
  • School drop-offs and pick-ups when required (although this is also something the parents try and do whenever they can).
  • Accompany the children to activities, play-dates, appointments and outings.
  • Coordinate schedules for meals, activities, and travel.
  • Keep on top of household tasks and errands when the children are at school.
  • Laundry and ironing relating to the children.
  • Create a positive and engaging environment that fosters independence, promotes good manners and respectful boundaries, and instils values of responsibility.
  • Some vegetarian cooking for the children, and preparation of snacks and lunchboxes when required.
  • Support with homework and extra-curricular activities.

Requirements

  • Take initiative, plan engaging activities for the children, and partner seamlessly with both parents who are very hands-on.
  • Have an understanding of behavioural milestones and development.
  • Engage with the children at their level, and encourage learning through play and exploration (familiarity with a Montessori approach would be a bonus).
  • Have considerable experience in a similar role and bring a positive, 'can-do' mindset, with a kind, considerate approach to childcare.
  • Be happy to pitch-in and support the family wherever needed, able to take on household tasks and errands while the children are at school, and comfortable tag-teaming with the parents.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be collaborative in approach.
  • Be comfortable with both structured and flexible environments.
  • Be super organised, full of initiative, and able to plan ahead.
  • Have a valid UK passport or work authorisation, and be able to travel with the family when required.
  • Be comfortable in both a shared-care and sole charge situation, as well as with overnight care and proxy-parenting.
  • Be a safe, confident driver with a clean licence.
  • Have a warm, considerate and nurturing approach while also able to maintain boundaries and gentle discipline.
  • Effectively read the room and should have an intuitive understanding of when to step back to allow family time, and when to step forward to relieve the parents.
