Overview

A warm family of three based in Chislehurst is seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised part-time housekeeper for a long-term position. The family lives in a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with their young son and Labrador.

The housekeeper will work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am–4pm and will maintain the home to a consistently high standard. The family is seeking someone who takes genuine pride in their work, notices what needs doing without requiring continual direction, and enjoys creating a clean, organised, and well-run home.

The role includes full housekeeping, laundry and ironing, household organisation, grocery management, errands, and about one hour of food preparation each working day. This will primarily involve preparing ingredients and components of family meals rather than responsibility for main cooking.

The family employs a home teacher who works with their son three days per week. There are no childcare responsibilities associated with this position.

The ideal candidate will be discreet, trustworthy, and highly organised, with strong private household experience. They should be confident managing their responsibilities independently, proactive about household supplies and organisation, and comfortable working in a family home with a young child and dog.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full housekeeping to a high standard
  • Keep bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, and the kitchen clean and tidy
  • Manage household laundry, including washing, ironing, folding, and putting clothes away
  • Change bed linen and towels
  • Maintain organised wardrobes, cupboards, drawers, and household storage
  • Take appropriate care of furniture, fabrics, finishes, and household items
  • Monitor and replenish household supplies and essentials
  • Receive deliveries, unpack, and put away household purchases
  • Complete online grocery orders and maintain appropriate food and household supplies
  • Manage postal and online returns, including preparing parcels and taking them to appropriate drop-off locations
  • Keep the fridge, freezer, cupboards, and kitchen organised, and monitor expiry dates
  • Spend approximately one hour on food preparation each working day, including preparing vegetables, ingredients, marinades, salads, and components of family meals
  • Clean and tidy the kitchen after food preparation
  • Assist with reasonable household errands as required
