Lovely, welcoming first‑time parents seek a wonderful maternity nurse to join them on a part‑time basis from early June 2026. The schedule is likely to be 24/3 or 24/4 for the first 2–3 weeks, dropping down to 2‑3 nights per week by the end of the booking (probably 6‑8 weeks). Ideally, the maternity nurse can offer some flexibility around the schedule depending on how things go. The parents would prefer that the days worked are consecutive, between Sunday evening and Thursday evening.
Responsibilities
- Prioritising the safety and well‑being of the baby at all times, providing attentive and nurturing care and supporting the parents to be actively involved.
- Providing practical tools to enable the parents to keep baby on schedule during the maternity nurse’s ‘off‑days’, and building their confidence in all the day‑to‑day aspects of the baby’s care and well‑being.
- Maintaining a calm and supportive environment, ensuring the mum is well‑rested, hydrated and healing well after the birth.
- Baby’s laundry, bottle sterilising (if required), and cleaning of toys and other baby items.
- Providing lactation support and guidance, supporting them in (hopefully) breastfeeding and with introducing the bottle.
- When appropriate, gently encouraging healthy sleep and feed schedules.
Requirements
- The parents are keen to find a calm, gentle and experienced maternity nurse who thrives in a collaborative environment and who is comfortable working alongside very engaged and hands‑on parents.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and extremely good communicators.
- Warm, friendly and passionate about their role.
- Comfortable in a relatively laid‑back and go‑with‑the‑flow environment.
- Team players–able to work with very involved parents.
- Open, supportive, and used to a gentle, baby‑led environment.
- Available from first or second week of June (although there is a possibility that the baby may arrive early).
- Locally based, as this is a live‑out role with accommodation (including own bathroom) only provided for when the maternity nurse is working.
- Fit and active, able to cope with a home on several levels.
