A career without limits. As the nation's flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain. It's something we've been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world's first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. This originality has been in our blood since day one. It's the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
The role: Ethics & Compliance Operations Manager. Ethics and Compliance helps British Airways do the right thing, every day. Working across the airline, the team protects our reputation, supports responsible decision-making and helps ensure we operate with integrity in everything we do. We're looking for an experienced Ethics & Compliance Operations Manager to help drive and strengthen our ethics and compliance programme across British Airways. This is an opportunity to shape how ethics and compliance is delivered across the business, working closely with senior leaders to turn great ideas into action and make a real impact!
What you'll do:
- Support the development and delivery of the Ethics & Compliance strategy across British Airways.
- Partner with leaders across the business to provide expert compliance guidance and support.
- Proactively champion a culture of integrity, through active communication, engagement, support and training initiatives.
- Manage our whistleblowing programme, providing oversight for all matters raised through confidential reporting channels and delivering direction and expertise throughout investigations.
- Develop and maintain key compliance policies, including anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, trade compliance and third-party risk management.
- Actively engage with and monitor our working practices to identify compliance risks, control weaknesses and opportunities to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
- Use your subject matter expertise to build and nurture strong relationships and collaboration across British Airways and the wider IAG network.
What we're looking for:
- A strong understanding of ethics, compliance and risk management, combined with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively at every level.
- The ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues, apply sound judgement and make compliance practical, relevant and engaging.
- A genuine enthusiasm for helping people do the right thing and creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking up!
Your experience:
- Significant experience in ethics, compliance or regulatory roles, ideally gained within a large or complex organisation (typically gained through several years in a similar role).
- A track record of influencing and supporting stakeholders, including senior leaders, across a global business.
- Experienced in managing complex and sensitive compliance issues, investigations and regulatory interactions.
- Strong understanding of organisational risk management, ideally within businesses operating across diverse markets and supply chains.
- Knowledge of key legislation including the UK Bribery Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, and global sanctions regimes.
- Working knowledge of legislation such as UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Modern Slavery Act and related regulatory frameworks.
What we offer:
We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It's one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary. From the day you join us, you'll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You'll also receive up to 30 discounted 'Hotline' airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family. At British Airways you'll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress. We never stand still, and we don't expect our people to either.
Inclusion & Diversity: At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work. Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we're committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves.
