The role: Solution Architect
Shape the future of British Airways as a Solution Architect. We have multiple opportunities available across distinct business areas, each playing a critical role in driving innovation, scalability, and efficiency across the airline.
Where You\’ll Work:
Operations Technology – focusing on essential aviation systems such as flight planning, crew applications, catering, and above/below wing operations.
Customer and Commercial Technology – driving digital innovation across BA.com, ancillary services, and contact centre platforms.
Enterprise Enablement & Platform Services – supporting foundational services across cloud, observability, HR systems, and internal tooling, ensuring BA Digital can operate securely and at scale.
We’re building with a modern tech stack that includes cloud-native solutions on AWS, Java-based services, React and Angular for UI, and DevOps automation using GitHub and Terraform.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deliver innovative solutions that align with British Airways\’ strategic direction.
- Champion best-in-class, low-customisation solutions that integrate seamlessly with world-class applications.
- Translate business needs into functional and non-functional designs, aligning with enterprise architecture principles.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve conflicts, and ensure architectural alignment.
- Review functional specifications and manage any deviations to maintain technical integrity.
- Work closely with product teams to ensure solutions are testable, auditable, and measurable.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, approving third-party deliverables as required.
- Drive adherence to architectural standards, resolving or escalating non-compliance when necessary.
- Contribute to the creation of technical roadmaps and ensure solutions are future-proofed and strategically aligned.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and drive consensus.
- A track record of value-led service delivery and strategic business partnering.
- Deep experience across architecture domains: business, data, application, and technology.
- A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a focus on delivering outcomes through strong partnerships.

Your Experience
- Proven background working with digital product teams and Agile frameworks (SAFe Agile experience ideal).
- Experience designing and delivering architecture within cloud or hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with incremental delivery, Agile planning, and product-focused organisations.
- Strong understanding of service-level agreements and system lifecycle management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
