The role
Global PR Manager – 12-month Fixed Term Contract
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated PR Manager who\’ll play a significant role in the Global PR team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. The successful candidate will deliver the vision for Corporate Affairs of growing pride and trust in British Airways by continually seeking ways to promote the airline\’s unique service, route network and customer experience. They\’ll be responsible for raising British Airways\’ profile in a positive way through the delivery of key messages in earned media coverage, as well as identifying and managing reputational risks and advising senior stakeholders accordingly.
What you’ll do
No two days will be the same as the Global PR Manager, and there are a large number of accountabilities involved in promoting and protecting the British Airways brand. During the 12-month FTC, responsibilities might include but are not limited to:
- Providing strategic advice to senior colleagues across multiple areas of the business, up to and including Management Committee level, including briefings and ad-hoc guidance
- Originate and execute proactive Global PR campaigns that will support and drive British Airways\’ business goals
- Consistently build and maintain relationships with consumer, news and feature journalists both in the UK and further afield
- Originate and deliver high-profile events and press trips
- Create high-quality press materials, including press releases and leadership support materials
- Work closely with the Media Relations team to ensure an aligned approach on day to day activity, as well as taking part in the on-call duty press office out of hours rota and helping to manage communications in times of crisis and disruption
- Support the shaping of the Global PR strategy and deputise the Head of Global PR when needed
What you’ll bring to British Airways
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who consistently takes a proactive approach to PR. They\’ll be a creative self-starter who can remain calm and flexible under pressure with the ability to problem solve. They\’ll have a good understanding of the PR, marketing and social media landscape with excellent writing skills and the ability to confidently advise and challenge senior colleagues.
Your experience
Strong and wide-ranging PR experience is vital, with significant experience in a communications department and/or PR agency. The successful candidate will be well-practiced in news generation and PR management and will be able to demonstrate recent experience in taking ownership of long term projects. They\’ll be able to provide examples of making sound judgement around reputational issues, show detailed knowledge of proactive communications and providestrong evidence of developing coalitions with other functions or departments.
